Logs
Here are transcripts of each Dragonhunt session played over OpenRPG. They're edited slightly to remove spam or other confusion, but for the most part they reflect how the game is played. Some are poetic and story-intensive, some are a combat spam-fest identical to any MUD log. In the case of combat, I'm afraid that part of the story is told via OpenRPG's miniature map system, which allows tabletop-style tactical gaming. You'll just have to guess a little.
Prologue 1: A Hero is Born
Part One. Renate von Adler seeks her brother, but gains an alter ego—one that seems particularly adept at getting into trouble.
Part Two. Renate von Adler passes through a contested zone in the Patchwork Kingdoms, seeking the Drifting Diamond, Dorothy Durai. In Ilium, she finds her....
Part Three. In the mists of the Faerie Realm, Renate glimpses a terrible future. Even if she finds her brother, can she save him?
Epilogue. Renate can come home, but the world will always be looming just over the threshold. It's 1993... only seven years left.
Prologue 2: The Dark Paladin of Skyseek Tower
Part One. Aryk goes on an unauthorized "field trip" with a group of his classmates; but rail travel still just isn't quite as safe as all the brochures make it out to be.
Part Two. In the small town of Linten's Ford, demon cultists seek to renounce their evil lord. The Church is here to help formalize the renunciation. But on the eve before the ceremony, a demon outbreak threatens the lives and souls of everyone in the town. Still, things seem to be under control... until Aryk learns that when it comes to threatening lives and souls, a whole flock of demons doesn't hold a candle to one very determined human.
Prologue 3: Grey Light
Flyer graphic. Recycled, I admit, from the Ozone campaign, but still relevant.
Grey Light. Taryn Greylight is in trouble—he's the target of a ritual magic which tells every bounty hunter in the province where he is... and where to collect the princely bounty on his head. But Taryn Greylight is determined to stay in Ilium: he's an assassin, and real assassins don't give up on jobs just because a few dozen of the Hundred Deadly Fighters are playing headhunter.
The question here is what happens when the adopted son of Dark Eternal is playing headhunter...
Chapter 1: Demon's Laughter
The human and demon worlds meet in a bloody murder mystery; and a race against time.
Meetings and... Departures. Old acquaintances and new scramble for clues.
Red and White, and the Blues. Rushing to a potential murder site, the Troubleshooters encounter complications, and create a few of their own.
Square One. A "minor setback" has the Troubleshooters scrambling to pick up the lost threads of their investigation.
The Tightening Noose. Through confusion, deception, and death, the investigators soldier on, and they're finally starting to sort things out. But what awaits them at the center of the web of lies?
Now the Game Is on the Other Foot. Now that it's obvious how things fit together, it's time for action. But fate has one more nasty little surprise in store...
Epilogue. Until the Ruido Grande is kicked out of the city, nobody gets a good night's sleep.
Chapter 2: Bounty Strike!
Heroes and mercenaries track down condemned criminals in a gladiatorial game of life and death. The bad guys are unarmed, disorganized, and warded against escape; what could possibly go wrong?
From Tifan's Place to Atlantis, by Way of Armageddon. After a quick strategy session at everyone's favorite coffeeshop/nightclub, Rien travels to Atlantis across a landscape of nightmares.
A Walk in the Park. It's a beautiful day in early Fifthmonth, and how better to spend it than to get a little exercise? Sadly, Evil recognizes the benefits of good fitness as well.
Unpleasant Work. Our heroes knew that the Bounty Strike might involve some disturbing encounters, but they weren't quite prepared for the gruesome reality.
Pretty Girl, Angry Mob. A mysterious adventuress leads a village militia against deadly odds as the botched Bounty Strike spills over into civilian territory. Can the heroes tip the balance?
Rogue Demon Hunter. Emily Rani reveals a little of her past and present.
Chapter 3: Big Noise
The Ruido Grande is infiltrating the city in a bid for control over its underworld. The Silver Coast's traditional answer to undercover or heavy detective work is to hire Troubleshooters, independent heroes like Renate, Rien, and Aryk. So now our intrepid trio is saddled with the task of ejecting the Ruido Grande, at any cost... because if they fail, the next step is martial law.
Processional. From an Ilium dance club to a solemn gravesite, one adventure ends and another begins.
Five Apostles. Aryk and Templeton go deep undercover in a daring reconnaissance operation. Look out, James Bond!
Twisted Spear. Renate and company stop a demonic assassin... with help from an unexpected quarter.
The Black Gauntlet. Aryk and his Church friends challenge the Five Apostles on their home ground; bloodshed erupts. Also featuring the first appearance of the Super-Tight Michaelite!
Meteor Shower. A battle at sea leads to a dangerous adversary—and an unexpected ally.
Interview with the... wait, you mean that title's been done? Crap.
Block Damage. Rien and Leonid duke it out with the entire gang, with a little help from Aryk and his Church buddies.
Demon Tiger. In which the heroes take a stab at Pilar San Federico, and Severian Marcella takes a stab at them.
Finale to come!
The Further Adventures of Will Gerevannin. In which Will proves that Renate doesn't have all the bad luck in the world; and that Renate isn't the only one who doesn't know whether to hate him.
Coming Attractions
Chapter 4: Fire Stingray
The Ruido Grande plagues the sealanes; a forgotten goddess haunts a secret island; an ancient evil lurks in the guts of a dormant volcano. And just what are the Skyseekers up to? And who the hell is "Soleil?"
Chapter 5: Heartfall
A twisted mage's lust for revenge threatens an international incident. Stopping him wouldn't be easy under any circumstances . . . much less when his burning hate leads him to a place no man was meant to go.
Chapter 6: Showtime!
The Eternal Guard invades the Silver Coast, and the population falls under their iron grip.
The universities of Eldorado ring with pro-Andragar creeds; the pleasure gardens of Atlantis vibrate with the music of war and bloodshed; the Black Sheep of Ilium offer no more resistance than the proud Riskbreakers; Eridu's bankers eagerly accept collaborator funds; grand Ys and Xanadu, separated by the Bay of Hearts, fall together, dancing to Dark Eternal's tune.
And our heroes side willingly with the invaders.
